Description
Vitis coignetiae is a member of the Vitis genus. Vitis coignetiae, also known as Crimson Glory Vine or Japanese Creeper, is a deciduous vine with large, heart-shaped leaves that emerge green in the spring and turn a stunning crimson red in the fall. It produces small, inconspicuous flowers in the summer, followed by small, dark purple berries. It is a fast-growing vine that can reach heights of up to 15 meters and is often used to cover walls, fences, or trellises. Vitis coignetiae prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, and is relatively low maintenance. It is also tolerant of drought and pollution.

Vitis coignetiae This plant is not tolerant of acidic soil, it requires either a neutral or alkaline soil to grow.

Vitis coignetiae prefers a sheltered position and can cope with either full sun or partial shade.
Maintenance
Vitis coignetiae is fairly low maintenance and doesn’t require any pruning. However it can be cut back in midwinter and midsummer, this is especially important if you are trying to keep it limited to a certain area.

Vitis coignetiae can have problems with scale insects, it can be vulnerable to certain diseases such as powdery mildews, grey moulds, honey fungus and virus diseases. It is not considered to be toxic.
